There are celebrations all around the world when the new year starts. One very popular tradition is to count down the seconds on New Year’s Eve (the night before the new year actually starts). This is usually started just before midnight of the last day of the old year and precisely at the stroke of midnight anything from cheering to fireworks can be heard to celebrate the start of a brand new year.


Many will make new year’s resolutions. These are things you promise you will try to do  or do better in the new year, such as be nicer to your sister, or not talk in class.
